****This is long*** I Hate Homeschool Destiny Day # Whatever Captains Log: The key is patience and flexibility. The 8year old loves everything but focusing and because of this Games, Toys, and TV has been on suspension for the whole month of March. He could only go outside and play, which has been tough because of the weather. I did this because I wanted him to see the importance of focusing to achieve a goal. He told me he wanted to be better at the word games we played. He would get frustrated because he couldn't spell bigger words to compete in the game. So I ordered him a spelling curriculum that only focused on building vocabulary. In the beginning, He loved the stories but wasn't retaining the words so he didn't succeed at test. After nine weeks of testing, he would only spell two words of 15. After the two words, there would be a stick man....or some other figure is drawn on the paper. Then he would disappear. Well, I took away the things he disappeared to because it was happening every day and there was no progress. I told him to go outside and get some sun and play with the kids on the street. We usually don't have time for this because we are going to different places and I work in the city and driving took up a lot of our time. During this Alien time of stillness, I have adjusted and loved the creative passions I've been able to pursue and also giving new adventures to my kids. Learning how to be still and listen to themselves. Okay, back to the 8-year-old. After a few weeks he now loves going outside ( so do I) we are back to walking 5 or 6 miles again. BUT the greater thing is that he came to me to give him a spelling test on Whatever day this is!! So not routine, but who cares!!! I know the world runs on time but we don't have to. Who says you have 5 days to learn something? These are parameters put on you by something from the outside that fights your inner intuition. Pressure is not needed.... when learning I have discovered from working with the 8-year-old.......Now that the 10 and 5-year-old work on two other frequencies that work for them and guess what...It works! I know some people like to have this disciplined schedule and all the life things have to fit into a box but ask yourself: Why? We have turmoil and chaos because we are fighting against our true nature. This was one reason why I hated homeschooling in the beginning. I was trying to fit our limitless selves in a box that was given to us from the outside. I knew this whole time that the box was not addressed to me and a lot of other people out there have boxes sent to them that's not theirs to open. But we kept opening the box and placing the things that add frustration and stress into the collection of our minds. Sorry, I didn't mean to go into this blog style of writing and many on my personal page don't know I love to write and have started to put more materials out there. Well, the great thing about this story is that the whole family had time to help the 8-year-old focus and learn that it's okay to be still and learn something so that it can work for you.
Focusing isn't bad. It's good and a must when you want answers to a mountain of things or a better way of handling a little person's active mind. I tell my son, the 8-year old that he is awesome, smart, creative, and a king every day because he is. You ever wondered why kings sat on thrones alone in silence sometimes? Seemed boring right? Many people will have their truth about this but I know how silence, focus, and a little self-attention can not only change your life but help you help those around you because you have helped yourself. Stress, frustration, fear does not have to exist....not in my house! You have the power ( of Grey skull!!) To change all that.
So, after weeks of getting to know how his mind works, the 8-year-old got 100% on his spelling test. He was happy. The 5-year-old was happy( because now he had his brother back to play with toys) The 10-year-old is happy ( because now she can tell him what to do with his toys) and grade his paper. I'm happy because my number one thing I want my kids to learn is knowledge of self. Know who you are and how you learn so that no one can send you a box ( Amazon be tempting tho!) And you open that box thinking you have to take what's in it. Customize it! Then you will eliminate all the junk from clogging up your mind, body, spirit, and soul. Ps. I Still Hate Homeschool Destiny If there are grammar errors So What!! You know what I'm saying! And I'm an ESL teacher so I'm spreading the non-grammar incorrectness to a lot of people😂😂😂😂😁🙃🙃😘
